Supervision is process-oriented meaning the counsellor’s awareness, their descriptions of how they conceptualize their client/supervisee’s issues, and their own personal experiences are used to develop personal insights and enhance professional skills. Utilizing a variety of modalities to include, but are not limited to Gestalt, Relational Somatic, humanistic, interpersonal psychotherapy, and cognitive-behavioural, supervision involves facilitative, confrontative and interpersonal interventions. Parallel process is used as a catalyst for enhancing awareness of client and supervisee dynamics.
